The Devil’s in the Details
When discussing the total separation of state and the economy the devil is in the details. Or at least that’s where the discussion often goes.
“I have two kids. I would never be able to afford to put them through private school.”
“If we privatize the streets, will we have toll booths on every street corner?
“If the government wouldn’t pay for my health care or at least regulate health insurance, nobody will treat my pre-existing condition!”
This blog will be a lot about those devilish details, of how to get from here to there, of how to disentangle the mess we’ve created for ourselves over the past 100 years or so. I hope you’ll contribute your questions, examples and suggestions as well.
And no, I don‘t have the exact answers in every area of the economy (although I think I’m pretty close). But I have great confidence in the ingenuity of individual Americans. If only given the chance, there is no limit to what free men and women can achieve, including finding practical answers to every one of those questions.
Before going there, I’ll spend a few post on setting the stage.
After all, why should separating state and the economy be a political end-goal? Isn’t unfettered capitalism extreme? Who says protecting individual rights is important? Why should we fight for individualism? Why should we oppose collectivism and statism? Why is “You Didn’t Build That” the essence of anti-Individualism, of anti-Americanism?
